Christian Dior is a French luxury fashion house founded on December 16, 1946 at 30 Avenue Montaigne in Paris. Its debut 1947 collection — immediately dubbed the 'New Look' — single-handedly restored Paris as the capital of world fashion after World War II.
On February 12, 1947, Christian Dior presented his first collection, featuring the groundbreaking “Corolle” and “Huit” lines — rounded shoulders, a cinched waist, and a billowing skirt that fell below the calf. Harper’s Bazaar editor Carmel Snow exclaimed, “It’s such a new look!” and fashion history was permanently rewritten. After Dior’s sudden death in 1957, the house passed through the creative hands of Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Bohan, Givenchy, Gianfranco Ferré, John Galliano, Raf Simons, and Maria Grazia Chiuri — each reinterpreting the founding spirit of ultra-femininity and impeccable couture craft. Today, as part of the LVMH group, Dior commands one of the most powerful positions in global luxury, spanning ready-to-wear, haute couture, leather goods, jewelry and fragrance.
